The registration is per producer, not per product
WEEE obligations attach to the business that places the equipment on the market. A new product category does not create a new registration, but it does change the category weights that have to be reported and the take-back arrangements offered to customers.
Distance sellers have to provide a take-back route, often a collection on delivery or a local drop-off arrangement. The detail depends on the size and type of equipment.
Keep the evidence with the listing file
Marketplaces and retailers ask for the producer registration number and the compliance scheme details. Keep them with the test reports and the declaration of conformity so a listing review does not become an emergency.
Frequently asked questions
Does WEEE apply if I only sell small accessories?
It can. Small electrical accessories are still electrical and electronic equipment. Whether a specific item is in scope depends on the category definitions, so check the regulator guidance for the product.
Is WEEE the same as RoHS?
No. RoHS restricts substances in the product. WEEE governs take-back and recycling at end of life. A compliant product can still need WEEE registration.
