Packaging and WEEE are separate files
A French listing can need a packaging UIN and a WEEE UIN at the same time. They are issued separately and are checked separately. A seller that only registers packaging can still be blocked on the electrical side.
Take-back is part of the offer
French WEEE obligations include a collection route for end-of-life equipment. Distance sellers often meet this through the eco-organisation's network and a visible take-back instruction at the point of sale.
Frequently asked questions
Does a product with a battery need two French registrations?
It can need WEEE and battery registration, plus packaging. Each stream has its own UIN and eco-organisation.
Can I sell before the UIN is issued?
The registration is a market-access requirement and marketplaces check it. Wait for the number rather than listing and correcting later.
