Amazon FBA Fee Calculator
The preset loads a 15% referral fee and the $39.99 Professional subscription. Add the FBA fulfilment fee for your size tier, the landed item cost and the ad share. The calculator returns net payout, profit per order, margin and the price at which the order stops losing money.
The lines that make up the take rate
Amazon does not take one percentage. It takes a referral fee set by category, usually 8–15% with a per-item minimum in some categories; a per-unit fulfilment fee that depends on size tier, weight and season; a monthly subscription of $39.99 on the Professional plan in the US; and, where they apply, storage, aged-inventory, inbound-placement and return-processing charges.
The calculator has one per-unit fulfilment field. Put the FBA fulfilment fee plus your allocation of storage and inbound-placement charges into that field so the per-unit number matches the fee preview in Seller Central. Advertising goes in the ad-spend field as a share of price, and the return rate is costed as lost item cost.
Referral percentage versus total take
The referral fee is the visible line and rarely the largest one. On a low-price item the per-unit fulfilment fee can exceed the referral fee, and the subscription is spread over fewer orders if volume is small. The total take rate — all fees divided by the sale price — is the number that belongs in a price calculation; the referral percentage on its own understates it.
The break-even output shows how much room is left. If fees and costs consume the price before advertising, every ad dollar is a loss, which is why a product can look profitable at the referral-fee level and lose money once fulfilment and ads are included.
What to replace before trusting the result
Replace the 15% preset with the referral rate for your exact category and marketplace, enter the fulfilment fee for your product's size tier, and use the ad share you actually run rather than a target. Storage and inbound-placement fees vary by quarter and by how the shipment is split, so update the per-unit allocation when the plan changes.
The fee schedule is the authority. The FBA fee stack entry sets out the order to model the lines in and points to the official pricing page; the marketplace reference covers how other platforms compare.

Frequently asked questions
Is the referral fee always 15%?
No. It is set by category and commonly falls between 8% and 15%, with some categories higher and a per-item minimum in some cases. Confirm the rate for your category and marketplace in Seller Central.
Where do storage and inbound placement fees go?
The calculator has one per-unit fulfilment field. Add the fulfilment fee plus your per-unit allocation of storage and inbound-placement charges to that field, and update the allocation when the fee schedule or shipment plan changes.
Does a refunded order still cost money?
The referral fee is normally refunded when the order is refunded under standard policy, but return processing, return shipping and a unit that cannot be resold can still cost money. Use the return cost calculator to size that separately.
Should advertising be included as a fee?
It is a cost of the sale, so include it when you test whether a price works. A product that is only profitable without advertising is dependent on organic traffic that may not last.
