Supplier quote comparison calculator
Enter the unit price, freight and duty assumptions for two quotes at the same quantity. The calculator returns the landed cost per unit for each and the saving from choosing the cheaper one.
Compare landed cost, not unit price
A lower unit price can lose to a higher one when the freight, the MOQ or the duty treatment differ. The landed unit cost adds the goods value with duty and spreads the freight across the quantity, so the two quotes are compared on the same basis.
The calculator assumes the same duty rate for both quotes. If the supplier, the origin or the material changes the classification, use a separate rate for each quote; the difference can reverse the decision.
What the comparison leaves out
It does not include tooling, samples, inspection, payment fees, quality risk or the cost of a longer lead time. Add those lines manually for a full comparison. A quote that saves a few cents per unit but adds three weeks of lead time can be the more expensive option.
Use the total saving to judge whether the switch is worth the operational change. A small saving on a short run may not cover a new supplier qualification.

Frequently asked questions
Should freight be included in the unit price?
Compare the landed cost, which includes freight spread across the quantity. A unit price alone hides the freight difference.
What if the quantities differ?
Use the same quantity for both quotes, or calculate each at its own quantity and compare the total landed cost for the same demand period.
Does the duty rate apply to freight?
In many jurisdictions duty is based on the goods value, not the freight. Check the destination rules; this calculator applies the rate to the goods value.
Can I add inspection and tooling?
Not in this calculator. Add those costs to the landed unit cost manually or use the private-label cost calculator.
